Greensboro Auto Auction: A partner in profit for dealers buying and selling pre-owned vehicles

Just a short drive south, Virginia dealers have a pre-owned inventory partner in the Greensboro Auto Auction.

Greensboro Auto Auction is a 35-year-old, independent, dealer-exclusive auto auction in Greensboro, North Carolina.  Affectionately known as “GAA,” the auction sits on over 270 acres just minutes offof I-40 and offers a 16-lane first class facility.

GAA supports dealers pre-owned vehicle inventory with a weekly fleet/lease/consignment sale.  Every Wednesday, GAA runs anywhere from 1,300 to 1,600 vehicles for a variety of clients including Ford Motor Credit, Nissan & Infiniti Remarketing Services, Southeast Toyota, Bank of America, Hyundai Finance and Kia Finance, Ally, TD Bank and many other finance and banks.  GAA also offers vehicles from all the major rental companies including Enterprise, Avis, GSP Transportation and Hertz.

GAA has several factory sales that VADA members can participate in.  Hyundai and Kia are “open” factory sales, meaning all dealers can participate, while Ford, Subaru, Hyundai and FCA are “closed” and are only open to those franchise dealers.  Closed sales are great resources to the franchise dealers to put front-line ready units on their lots, especially now with the shortages being experienced by the factories.

GAA also provides a way for dealers to sell their aged inventory or trade-ins that don’t fit their inventory needs by offering dealer consignment lanes.  Through these lanes, dealers sell their vehicles to other dealers up and down the mid-Atlantic -- dealers they likely wouldn’t have found without the auction attendance.

All of GAA’s lanes are equipped with live simulcast so that if dealers prefer to work from their dealership office or even home office, they simply log in to buy or sell.  GAA’s simulcast platform is very user friendly including the ability to view and buy in multiples lanes easily and to change those views with a single log in.  A dealer can also set auto bids directly from the GAA website days before the sale or place proxy bids live on sale day.

“We like to help dealers succeed, we want to be a good business partner” said Greensboro Auto Auction’s General Manager, Jerry Barker. Jerry also commented that “there are a lot of VADA members that currently do business with GAA and some who haven’t done business in a while.” GAA’s goal in joining VADA was to be accessible to the membership and to be a partner in profit.

GAA’s marketing manager, Chrissy Connor said “dealers comment on a regular basis how clean our facilities are, how helpful our entire staff is and that for many it is their favorite auction to attend”.  Dealers attend from all over the eastern seaboard with the majority of dealerships being in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

GAA invites everyone to visit greensboroaa.com to learn more about the auction or to begin exploring the inventory options available every Wednesday.
