Virginia Auto Dealer Thomas Moorehead to Lead the
National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD)
Largo, MD - On February 16, 2012, the Board of Directors of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD) elected Thomas Moorehead as Chairman of the Board. Moorehead, who is the owner, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BMW and Mini of Sterling in Sterling, Virginia. Moorehead will take over to lead the association on July 25, 2012 during NAMAD's Annual Membership Meeting at Aria Resort
and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
"I am honored to accept this position at a time when the automobile industry is making its come back; however is still facing its challenges as it relates to the number of ethnic-minority dealers," said Moorehead. I am committed to the organization's mission and look forward to working with manufacturers and other key stakeholders in the automobile industry, we can't do this alone and we have to work together, said Moorehead.
Moorehead has been a member of the NAMAD board and a member of the association for over 20 years. Moorehead's dealership BMW of Sterling is among a select group of BMW Centers that has earned the coveted Quality Management Systems Award and Center of Excellence Award. BMW of Sterling sales production ranks it among the top five dealerships in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and among the top 10% of all BMW Centers in the nation; besides becoming the largest BMW Center in the state of Virginia.
Moorehead is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, a Life Member of The Urban League and a Life Member of the National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), a member of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, a member of the Baltimore (MD) Chapter of the National Guardsmen Inc., and a 33rd degree Mason. The Governor of Virginia appointed Moorehead to serve on the VA Automobile Dealer Board; he is the first African American to hold this position.
